Así, a bote pronto, en el lsusb debería verse algo como "Smart Card Reader" o algo por el estilo. Ten en cuenta que existen multitud de modelos de lectores de DNIe en el mercado con diferentes denominaciones en función del modelo en cuestión. Esto de los nombres (por desgracia) no es un tema de "sota, caballo y rey". Prueba a adjuntar una captura de pantalla del terminal con el lsusb ejecutado (y el lector de DNI conectado antes) para ver por dónde podemos afrontar este tema.

Si entras aquí www.agenciatributaria.gob.es/ y pinchas en: "Mis expedientes" podrás loguearte con el DNIe. Es una manera rápida y sencilla de probar que el lector está funcionando. También necesitas instalar la última versión de Java.

Espero que se vea algo

No hay problema, se ve perfectamente Linux te reconoce perfectamente la SmartCard bajo el protocolo CCID, traducción, que te reconoce el lector y el DNI electrónico. Buena noticia. Tu lector es compatible, así que el factor hardware lo vamos a descartar. El tema está en un asunto software exclusivamente. Si no recuerdo mal, en un post anterior pusiste el modelo exacto del lector. Voy a ver de qué chip estamos hablando y te actualizo con soluciones software para ver si mejora la situación.

Esta primera quincena de agosto estaré de viaje. O sea que no hay prisa.

Estando en un ambiente veraniego, solo dedico un par de horitas cada día, alternando DNIe y otros temas de linux, como podrás ver en en otros hilos.

Una vez pasado esos tutoriales, procederé a instalar otra distribución ( supongo una de las mas ligeras de la familia ubuntu ) para repetir todo lo aprendido.

Sin problema Yo también voy alternando con cosillas en Linux siempre que me lo permita el trabajo (muchas herramientas que uso ahí no son compatibles con Linux). Precisamente, debido al cambio de paradigma de Lubuntu, te recomendaría que fueses, incluso, a Xubuntu, ya que ésta también es lo suficientemente ligera para tirar del carro sin muchas pegas.
